Add a course activity or resource

Article summary

When preparing your course for use you will want to add some type of content: activities (interactive tools that usually require learners' participation) or course resources (typically passive content that a learner can read/access).

You can also control access to activities and resources using the restrict access feature or monitor course progress with activity completion

To add an activity or resource to a course, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the course.
  2. Click Turn editing on. If you are using the Pathway course format, instead go to Administration > Course administration > Manage sections and activities.
  3. In the section you want to add the content to, click Add an activity or resource.
  4. Select the activity/resource type from the list, then Add.
  5. Configure the activity settings, then click Save and display or Save and return to course.
All activities and resources are also available in the Totara Mobile app. Please note that activities and resources may work slightly differently in the app compared to on a desktop site.
