The catalogue block allows you to display a selection of items from the catalogue based on the available filters. You can apply a number of filters in the catalogue, then use that URL to populate the catalogue block.
Note that the catalogue block requires the Explore catalogue to be selected for the Catalogue default view setting.
You can configure a catalogue block by following these steps:
- Go to Explore from the main menu.
- Apply the filters you wish to apply to the content shown in the block.
- Copy the full URL, which will now have the filters appended after the question mark, e.g.
[site_name]/totara/catalog/explore.php?catalog_learning_type_panel[0]=playlist - Go to the page or dashboard to which you want to add the catalogue block.
- Click Blocks editing on.
- Click the plus icon (
) in one of the layout areas, then select Catalogue from the list. - Click the cog icon (
), then Configure Catalogue block. - Expand the Custom block settings section.
- Paste the URL from step 3 into the Catalogue URL field.
- Optionally add an informative Collection title, which should tell users which items are shown.
- Set the Maximum number of items that will be displayed in the block.
- Configure the other block settings as required.
- Click Save changes.
Check that the block displays the content correctly.
