Totara is a versatile platform designed to support the evolving needs of organisations. The Totara Suite comprises two main components:

• Totara Learn: The foundation of the Totara Suite is Totara Learn, a Learning Management System for upskilling your organisation’s workforce, and delivering transformational learning through structured, formal training. It includes social and collaborative learning features formerly found in Totara Engage. Totara Learn also includes essential features such as powerful audience controls, tenant management, and comprehensive reporting.

• Totara Skills: A skills management platform that helps organisations build a skills-driven workforce by creating a trusted view of current capabilities, gaps to close and the skills they need for the future.  You can define the skills and competencies required for roles, track how individuals are progressing against those requirements, and identify where gaps or risks exist across the workforce. It connects skills to positions, learning, goals and performance activities, giving employees, managers and leaders a consistent, evidence-based view of current capability and future readiness at every level of the organisation.  

A note on Totara Perform:

Totara Skills builds on existing Totara Perform functionality, and going forward Totara will actively develop Totara Skills ahead of Totara Perform. However, Totara Perform remains available to existing customers who wish to keep it.

Totara Perform is a Performance Management System, seamlessly extending Totara Learn to drive workplace productivity and professional development. This powerful extension helps organisations expand their learning and development efforts to become performance-focused.

With Totara, you have the flexibility to start with Totara Learn and add Totara Perform or Totara Skills as your organisation grows and evolves, ensuring your platform adapts to your changing needs.

Totara Suite

When both Totara Learn and Totara Perform or Totara Skills are implemented together, this is known as the Totara Suite. This powerful combination creates a unified experience that will cover all critical areas for your business to thrive.

Totara Learn (formerly Learn and Engage)

Totara Learn is a powerful Learning Management System (LMS) that allows you to create and manage courses, programs and certifications to assign to learners. These can contain various activities, instructor-led events and other blended learning content. Additionally, Totara Learn supports informal learning with workspaces, libraries, user-generated content and content curation, discussions, and more.

Totara Perform

Totara Perform is a flexible and tailored Performance Management System that supports both modern and traditional performance management processes.

There are many ways you can use Totara Perform to increase productivity through continuous performance management, using evidence-based performance reviews. Users and their managers can collaborate to create and track their goals, and link them to relevant learning.

Totara Skills is a modern skills management platform offering the same core functionality as Totara Perform, while adding a range of additional features and improving the skills feature.
